If you are running the software on a typical office PC, then a simpler package will probably be less frustrating to use, as it will render faster - although at the expense of absolute quality.

The system is rock solid - no crashes or lost work in 9 months of using it and renders in 4-8x real time, plus real time rendering of all previews to a 2nd monitor (I run 2 x 4K 24" displays) I then have 12TB of Raid5 network attached storage to transfer projects to once complete. I run a twin Xeon 3.1GHz HP440Z Workstation with a NVidia GTX980Ti card, coupled with a 1TB SSD for programs, a 2nd one for projects and a 3rd for the scratch disk. Render quality is easy to select - lots of presets, and the software will select the correct timeline settings based upon your initial clip. After that, things get trickier, but the basics are easy. Drag the clips from a folder into the bin to import, set the in and out point in the preview window and drag onto the timeline. I have used this since V4.0 and apart from a brief dalliance with Avid and Fast601 have completed hundreds of projects on it. Editors can enhance the picture and sound to some extent but you can't beat a well lit video or decent audio. I have tried a number of editors, Pinnacle Studio and CyberLink PowerDirector for example, but have returned to VS each time simply because the learning curve for a new editor is often excessive.įinally the completed video is only as good as the input of raw video and audio. This is why I am suggesting a straightforward package may be the better route. You will pay for these but may never use them. Modern video editors have many "bells and whistles" added to glam up the final video. I feel you need to consider what you want for the final outcome. If you do choose VS then look at Amazon for version X8 or X9 which, I know, will run on W7.

It is well supported with tutorials (see Corel's in house tutorials and "Gripps" on YouTube.) I ran VideoStudio on Windows 7 until recently when I was forced to go to 10 (or lose the free offer). I use Corel's VideoStudio Pro, it is a very straightforward editor for putting together videos and outputting in different formats. Some have decent tutorial packages to go with them. My suggestion for your use would be an easy to understand and use editor. Most come as a one off buy and you can add such extras as "cloud" if you want. The fact is that we all have our favourite editing suites.
To some extent time will be determined by your PC, although the Cloud "should" mean the final Rendering is done on powerful machines, so it comes back "warts and all" in record-time. think this could take up to 1-hr by the time it's finished and approved.
